The
BMW (an abbreviation of Bayerische Motoren Werke) logo is cited as coming from
two different sources depending on the source.
[Sloniger] states that it is a
combination of both: the arms of Bavaria (Fusilly in bend
argent and azure) and from the whirl of an aircraft propeller, since BMW made
aircraft engines at an earlier stage in its history.
