Mercedes Benz Automotive Heraldry

So far I haven’t been able to trace this famous emblem to any heraldic antecedents, but include it in the survey because of the heraldic-like history of the badge. As described in [Boesen], Daimler and Benz merged in 1926. “Daimler’s three-pointed star, standing for the threefold nature of transportation – on land, on sea, and in the air – was encircled by Benz’s laurel branches.”
