Pontiac Firebird Trans Am hood decalBut the most heraldic display that Pontiac ever used was the famous hood decal available as an extra cost item on the Firebird Trans Am.  [Grayson] describes the origin of this design by John Schinella, but does not indicate if any actual heraldic models were used.  If the original purpose of heraldic displays were to announce a combatant’s whereabouts on the field of battle, and throw in some intimidation while at it, it would be hard to find a better example than this.
